How many RoboGuards will I need?
Each RoboGuard (available in black, white or green) covers 110° and up to 20 meters (400 square meters per RoboGuard). RoboGuards can be mounted on a wall, a tree, a post or a pole looking in-towards or out from the protection area or any weak spot identified. You can have up to 8 RoboGuards programmed into each HQ Receiver, the system is modular and can be added to at anytime. Our recommendation is to start off with a basic system and as many RoboGuards you feel are immediately necessary. You can add more on to the system as required.

Do I need a professional installation?
Developed as a DIY solution, the RoboGuard Perimeter Security System comes pre-programmed, ready to set-up with batteries included. It is as simple as identifying the best positions for each RoboGuard, mounting them and performing the fine tuning walk-test. You may require an alarm technician to programme your household alarm to receive communication from the HQ Receiver (only if you require this option).

What distance/area does a RoboGuard cover?
RoboGuard uses dual top and bottom beam technology that fan out to cover an arc of 110° at a range of up to 20 meters. They do not need to see each other or bounce off anything.

Can dogs/cats set it off?
RoboGuard uses dual top and bottom beam technology that fan out to cover an arc of 110° at a range of up to 20 meters. They do not need to see each other or bounce off anything.

Both the top and the bottom beams need to be broken before an alarm activation.

RoboGuards should be set-up that the bottom beam is at the maximum height of your largest animal.

Do you need two RoboGuards facing each other?
No. RoboGuard uses dual top and bottom beam technology that fan out to cover an arc of 110° at a range of up to 20 meters. They do not need to see each other or bounce off anything. RoboGuard picks up movement and heat so you will only need one RoboGuard per area.

How do you protect the maximum area?
There are only so many entry points and vunerable areas to a property. The idea is to catch the intruder at some point before reaching the goal. Through creative analysis you can determine which areas need to be covered as priorities.

See our Manuals Page, the "BeamAngles" download will assist you with your placement.

What is the HQ Receiver?
Your HQ Receiver is a portable device (approximately 1.5 x the size of a cell phone) that receives the signals from, and controls, the RoboGuards.

From the HQ Receiver you can arm and disarm specific zones, it will provide an audible alert in the event of a breach of an armed zone. The audible alert is in the form of beeps that signify which zone has been breached and the corresponding light on the HQ Receiver will also flash.

The HQ Receiver constantly communicates with each RoboGuard to ensure that the batteries and signal are all good, it will also alert if a RoboGuard is tampered with.

The HQ Receiver can be wired in to a “Noisy” siren, wired in to a household alarm as an extra zone and remotely armed and disarmed.

How far can the HQ be from the RoboGuards?
Each RoboGuard is tested to 400 meters line of sight to the HQ Receiver. In walled / domestic environments you can expect 100+ meters range.

The HQ Receiver constantly communicates with each RoboGuard and will report if the signal to a specific RoboGuard is weak.

Wireless Repeaters are available that will double/boost the HQ Receiver / RoboGuard range.

How long do the batteries last?
RoboGuards use eight standard and readily available C-Cell batteries, we suggest alakline (torch batteries) that give on avearge 2+ years of life for each RoboGuard.

The HQ Receiver constantly communicates with each RoboGuard to ensure that the batteries and signal are all good, it will also alert if a RoboGuard is tampered with.

What is the warranty on a RoboGuard?
RoboGuards and HQ Receivers have a 1 year warranty (no warranty on batteries) and come with a lifetime warranty against UV damage and lightning strikes.

How do you switch off a RoboGuard?
The simple answer is that RoboGuards are constantly on… You can select on the HQ Receiver which RoboGuards you wish to receive signals from at any time simply by pushing the corresponding button for each zone on the HQ Receiver.

If Remote Activation Devices are used to arm and disarm the system you would first select the zones required zones on the HQ Receiver, and then arm the system using the Remote Activation Device when clear of the area.

Is the RoboGuard waterproof and UV stable?
RoboGuards are made out of a Poly-Carb ABS blend and not only is it 100% waterproof against rain it also carries a lifetime warranty against UV damage. Do not however spray a sprinkler directly onto a RoboGuard, direct water under pressure may penetrate the housing and damage the electronics.

How do the beams work?
Each RoboGuard makes use of top and bottom dual beam passive infrared sensor technology that pick up any movement or heat signature. Algorithms determine whether to activate an alarm based on selected parameters. In order to activate an alarm both top and bottom beams need to be broken. This enables the system to be set-up so as to allow pets to move around and almost completely eliminates false alarms.

Each RoboGuard (available in black white or green) covers 110° and up to 20 meters (400 square meters per RoboGuard) and gives an instant warning in the event of a breach of up to 8 zones per portable HQ Receiver.

The area a RoboGuard covers can be reduced in distance down to 15 or 10 meters, while 11° sections (if required) can be blocked off.

Does a plant trigger a RoboGuard?
In most cases plants, trees, branches etc… do not set off false alarms.

Select positioning and fine tuning of RoboGuards mixed with a little strategic trimming and positioning around the garden is generally enough to avoid activation by any troublesome plants, trees and branches.

If necessary, any one of the 11° sections of the RoboGuards 110° arc can be blocked off and the area a RoboGuard covers can be reduced in distance to 15 meters or 10 meters.

Can you have more than one HQ working with the same RoboGuards?
Yes. Each RoboGuard has a unique code, which can be learned into multiple HQ Receivers.

This enables neighbours sharing common areas to monitor each other’s zones or trouble spots.

What colours do RoboGuards come in?
RoboGuards are available in Black, Green and White. If necessary the electronics can be removed and the housing primed and painted to blend in with any surroundings.
